ZYN vs Pablo vs Killa: Choosing Brands by Strength Tier

October 29, 2026, 5 min read. By the PouchWholesalers sales team.

In short: Give each brand a tier: ZYN covers light and medium, Killa anchors the strong row at 13.2mg, and Pablo covers extra strong and, on a separate labeled shelf, ultra strong.

Most buyers choose pouch brands by name recognition. A more useful question is which part of the strength scale each brand covers, because that decides who the brand serves and where it goes on your display.

ZYN, Killa and Pablo are a good example. In our catalog, these three brands together run from 1.5mg to 50mg per pouch, with surprisingly little overlap once you look at the numbers. We have already compared ZYN with VELO and Killa with Pablo head to head. This guide looks at all three as one system built around strength tiers.

The five strength bands

We sort every product by mg per pouch:

  • Below 6mg counts as light
  • 6–9mg counts as medium
  • 10–14mg counts as strong
  • 15–24mg counts as extra strong
  • 25mg and up counts as ultra strong

Products of 25mg and more are for experienced users only and belong on their own clearly labeled shelf. With those bands in place, the three brands sort themselves.

ZYN: the light and medium foundation

ZYN is made by Swedish Match, part of Philip Morris International. Our catalog lists 70 ZYN products in slim, mini and classic formats. Most of them sit at the lighter end:

One more product, Apple Mint Classic Strong, has a strength our sales team confirms with your quote.

Customer types: newer pouch users, everyday users who stay in the medium band, and shoppers who walk in asking for ZYN by name. ZYN is the brand that fills your top rows.

Killa: a single strength anchoring the strong row

Killa’s core and Exclusive range is 30 products, all at 13.2mg. That places almost the whole brand in one band, which makes it a clean anchor for the strong row. Flavors range from mint to fruit, cola, energy and coffee, such as Killa White Coffee 13.2mg.

Not every Killa product is 13.2mg, though:

  • Killa Flash Blueberry 4mg is a light product.
  • Killa Mini, Killa Dry, Cold Mint XXL, Cold X Mint and Double Dutch Cold have strengths that are not yet listed in our product data. Confirm them with sales before you shelve them.

Customer types: regular users who want more than a mainstream medium pouch and like to switch flavors without changing strength.

Pablo: the upper tiers

Pablo is the brand for the top of the scale, although its newest line now reaches down into the medium band. Its named tiers in our catalog:

Pablo Red, Ice Cold XXL, X-Ice Cold, the Mini products and Dry Ice Cold have strengths our sales team confirms with your quote.

Customer types: experienced users who find the strong row too light. The new 6mg Edition is the lightest way into the brand and Silver is the step into the strong band; Gold and Ice Cold are the core of the brand’s role on most displays.

Where the three overlap

The strong band (10–14mg) is the only place all three brands meet: ZYN at 11mg to 14mg, Killa at 13.2mg and Pablo Silver at 10.15mg. If you stock all three heavily here, the SKUs compete for the same customer.

Give each brand a purpose in that row instead. Keep the ZYN strong products for customers who want to stay with ZYN as they step up. Let Killa supply the flavor variety. Use one or two Pablo Silver products mainly as a bridge for customers heading toward Gold.

Outside the strong band, there is little overlap. ZYN and the Pablo 6mg Edition are the only medium products among the three, and Pablo is the only one with ultra-strong products.

Separating 25mg+ products

Pablo Exclusive and Pablo Ice Cold Limited Edition are 50mg per pouch. They are for experienced users only and should never sit beside light ZYN minis or medium slims.

  • Put them on a separate shelf or section with a clear “Ultra strong, 25mg+” label.
  • Show mg per pouch on every shelf tag.
  • Train staff to ask what a customer uses now before suggesting anything from this shelf.

Our high-strength retail guide covers this section in more detail.

Combining the brands in one display

Arrange the display by strength, top to bottom:

  1. Top rows, light and medium: ZYN minis and slims at 1.5mg to 9mg.
  2. Middle row, strong: a few ZYN 11mg products, a spread of Killa flavors at 13.2mg and one or two Pablo Silver products.
  3. Lower row, extra strong: ZYN at 16.5mg, Pablo Gold at 17mg and Pablo Ice Cold at 24mg.
  4. Separate labeled section: Pablo Exclusive at 50mg, only if experienced customers ask for it.

Convenience stores and gas stations can stop at rows one and two, with a small number of Gold products if regulars request them. Smoke and vape shops can carry all four sections. Online shops should let buyers filter by mg band. For layout details, see our display planogram guide.

A mixed 2-carton order can cover the whole structure: ZYN in two or three strengths of one mint flavor, five or six Killa flavors, and two Pablo Gold products. Add Exclusive later, once demand is clear.
